our story

Karma's roots date back to 2001 on Koh Phi Phi. Those three years were magnificent. We were handed an opportunity that we never could have imagined. The island and people gave us a wonderful chance to fulfill a dream. We would like to say thank you to everyone that made that dream come true, to everyone that walked on our sand and entered our hearts!

In early December 2004, Karma moved to Koh Lipe, Our first season here had a rough start as the tsunami struck the day after we officially opened. With our close connection to Phi Phi and Phuket we struggled with the thought of continuing the season on Lipe.

Tourism was slow in the first weeks after the tsunami, but it gave us a chance to meet and get to know the locals of our new home. During this time we realized how much we loved Thailand and more importantly how much we knew we were going to love Lipe! Sharing the beauty and simplicity of the island with dear friends from Phi Phi who visited made us enjoy it even more.

The season in Tarutao National Park is a short one (mid November to May) so please come and see us!

KARMA definition: "the result of action", generally taken as a term that comprises the entire cycle of cause and effect. Karma is a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do.

Individuals go through certain processes and accompanying experiences throughout their lives which they have chosen, and those would be based on the results of their own creations: "karma".

Karma is not about retribution, vengeance, punishment or reward. Karma simply deals with what is. The effects of all deeds actively create past, present and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy brought to others.

Karma is simply the golden rule: what you give out is what you receive - either in the same or in similar form. You reap what you sow - your actions create that which you do live out now, whether this relates to a past/future life situation or to the present date.
